Our mission started on the Easter weekend back in April. A small group of concerned citizens gathered in the driveway of a neighbor on Ledge Rd. We were all in shock to hear that there would be a proposed quarry and concrete plant constructed virtually in our back yard. We decided at that point our mission was clear.
Our mission is simple, it is to say NO to the proposed quarry and concrete plant to be located on Ledge Rd. There is far too much at stake.
On April 10th 2012 a couple of hundred concerned citizens showed up to the Galway-Cavendish & Harvey township office for a public meeting. A decision by council on the proposed was deferred to a later date, stating that there needed to be more time for public input. We, as an association set up this blog, mailed out flyers and put ads in local papers for one reason only, to make everyone aware. We feel that even though something is not directly in your backyard, you will suffer the affects in some way or another. Far too many times these quarries are proposed and thrown through the system that those who will be affected have no time to react. Later on June 23rd another 500 local citizens and cottages attended a public meeting to once again to express their concerns.
Many of us grew up here or moved here to escape the hustle and bustle of
city life. We simply enjoy what living in a rural community has to
offer.
We appreciate all your continued support! Lets set a precedence! Lets band together as a community and protect what we have before it is too late!

Hi All hope Covid has not found you. I am reaching out about the Dewdney Quarry. Has there been any news on final permits? Has there been any news on protecting the caves?
I am interested as this is my family ancestral home my last name is Dewdney and I am familiar with the property as I hunted in the area. I have never seen of the caves and it was not well known in the family, aware but not critical to my grandfather.
I look forward to hear from someone on your chat site, if the site is still watched.
